Well it was cold. Colder than I’ve ever been. But at other times it was warm. Yes, warmer than I’ve ever been. These Finns are crazy, what with their freezing temperatures and their ridiculously hot saunas. Their weakness for reindeer and mash though, I can well understand.

sounds fascinating - north finland? just watched joanna lumley going to northern norway, very jealous!

Yep, North Finland (Lapland). Very bleak, sparse and desolate. I saw the Lumley programme too on iPlayer but a bit too much gush for my liking. She did seem to get a good aurora though - all I saw was a greenish tinge that moved across the sky.
