Didn't get the job. Still stuck in this dismal, depressing, windowless hellhole, in a job that is tedious, unchallenging and yet at the same time deeply stressful, working for idiots with the management skills of a chocolate fireguard and with no apparent means of advancement, or even escape ( Read more... )

Fuck 'em; you'll get something soon enough. Just keep trying other jobs. It's pretty soul-destroying when you're desperate to get out of something awful and you get a rejection from a job you know you can do with your hands tied behind your back, but that's just how the system works sometimes. It's shit but it's not a rule of thumb for every job you apply for.

Just keep going for it and don't let the black dog hump you too hard.

That's a loooot of time and a lot of jobs and I only got one interview from the lot of them (I was lucky in that I got the job, mind). Probably about 40 applications overall, and just one interview and yet I got the job? There's no rhyme or reason to it sometimes. It's luck and circumstances far beyond your control. Don't take a rejection personally. I've been on the other side of the table in recent weeks, interviewing people. Had four candidates in one morning and only one of them was actually rubbish; the ( ... )
