Did anyone see this news story recently? Was on Lj less when it happened, so maybe everyone's gone over it already. Anyway, it illustrates exactly what pisses me off about people who just HAVE to get their jollies in public. It's not enough for these two berks to fool around with a dog collar (with which I have no problems) - they've just GOT to do ( Read more... )

That one got my goat, and all. I am one hundred percent fine with them living whatever lifestyle they want. Consenting adults and all that. I am appalled they they were shabbily treated on the bus, or anywhere else.

My sympathy massively drops when they give an interview to the press about how she's a "pet". They weren't discriminated against for having a particular lifestyle, they were discriminated against for looking weird (because there's no way the driver could have known about their actual lifestyle, and the collar and chain thing means more or less nothing these days).

The argument they should be advancing is "We should not be picked on for looking/acting different". Their actual lifestyle is more or less irrelevant to why they were picked on, and they did not need to shoehorn it into the interview. The fact that they did makes me question their entire motivation for their public dress sense in the first place...

and I agree with you, the air of 'LOOK AT ME' and then the correlating 'YOU ARE OBJECTIFYING ME BY LOOKING AT ME', shows a very confused mindset, and a desperate need to be seen as 'not the norm'.

It's tiresome.

There were wonderful arguments about the DLGs (Dog-Lead Goths) all over LJ. I had great fun arguing with Steer over minor semantic points and implied slights in each other's comments...

I am rapidly remembering a golden rule that had briefly slipped my mind (with absolutely no offence directed at the lovely Steer): "Arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded."

There. Now anyone who wasn't offended by my fascist attitude to DLGs should be coming nicely to the boil over my implied eugenicist stance.

Now that you're a one-man dictatorship, you can execute anyone who annoys you. That must do wonders for keeping an even temper.

Although I think a couple of show trials might be needed, just to ensure that the message gets out there effectively.

Goddamn Hippies!!

I find it very funny that the chick was saying 'oh yes, I is pet' and then took offence at being referred to as a dog.

Although she does look more like a ferret.
