It'd been hard to keep his surprise from showing when Felix was escorted out, but Hoshi hadn't been alone in that. Almost everyone in CIC had been carefully not-watching, and had taken their cues from the Admiral's lead.

When Felix returns, Hoshi needs only an instant's glance to realize that something's wrong.

Very, very wrong.

He has to wrench his attention back to his work as the next call comes in. Hoshi continues to monitor the flow of message traffic, but he can't keep his glance from returning to Felix.

He catches a few of the glances, but can't acknowledge them. Not now.

Later, says the silent look he tosses Louis' way in reply, during one of the very few moments his attention lapses away from DRADIS. I'll tell you later.

Of the pair, he's the first one relieved of duty. Gaeta doesn't linger; he moves straight for the door, and onward to the officers' racks without stopping.

The last two hours of his shift drag on endlessly, but he's finally able to turn over the comms to his relief and leave the CIC himself.

He doesn't bother stopping by the rec room; the way Felix had looked, he wouldn't have gone there. Hoshi heads straight for the racks as a first option, already figuring that he'll try the observation deck next, if Felix isn't there.

Gaeta's in his own rack, seated awkward and crosslegged so he can rest against the bulkhead. He's shucked off his uniform jacket, stripped down to his tanks; he leans his head back with his eyes closed.

The envelope and its unfolded contents rest in his lap.
