I agree that scary is not equal to creepy and Horror movies tend to be boring. Whatever-ness notwithstanding, do you think the "humans-are-REALLY-scary movies, like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre or House of Wax, are boring-er or more interesting than the supernatural stuff? The scariest movie I've ever seen was Brain Damage, because its take on addiction was so real.

Aliens is terrifying the first time you see it, but it isn't creepy.

I keep hearing horrible stories about The Eye that make me really NOT want to accidentally see even ten seconds of those movies.

the problem I have with stuff like TCM and HoW is that they're totally predictable. they telegraph what they're about in every scene and they generally go for cheap scares by being graphic and having guys jump out at you. they lack any sort of depth, and copious amounts of blood during dismemberment just doesn't make up for that ( ... )
