I have never been able to be a smoker. So it is an interesting situation to be in when your long term partner, who has always smoked (except when pregnant), decides to give up "for good ( Read more... )

I can't remember what Lhizz did when I was giving up smoking, but I know what you mean about the balance between saying enough and saying too much.
Good to hear she's feeling better too.
The cravings soon recede to be pretty mild. The smell of other people's cigarette smoke can be alluring, but if she waits a year and then has a single cigarette it will be a great reminder that a) the only good thing about them is that they take away the craving for a cigarette, b) cigarettes taste like shit, and c) they'll make you feel queasy and heart-racey when you're not used to them.
The first time I had one after giving up (and I'm not proud to say I've probably had 20-30 since I gave up about 5 years ago) I felt sick and like my heart was going to explode. I had to wonder why I'd persisted through that feeling long enough to become hooked in the first place.
