D'oh!

I just posted a Christmas card to our neighbour, however I got her name wrong. Will I ever be able to look her in the eye again ?

What a pillock...um, well, it's the thought that counts (weak smile)

Tell her you were drunk on eggnog?

I'm pretty sure I've done that before, and I don't recall it leading to Uzis at dawn over the conjoining fence. Good luck though, you never know - she might be PsykoNeighbor(tm).

What precisely is eggnog? It's always being mentioned especially on US telly programmes, but I don't know what the stuff is, other than sounding vile...

I haven't a clue... I don't think it has anything to do with eggs though. Some sort of creamy drink which can be made alcoholic or not. Since I don't like creamy drinks, I've never tried it. Give me hot buttered rum any day.

Post another one through her door with the right name, and a note apologising that you picked the wrong card out of the stack the first time and didn't realise until you went to give her card to x?

I posted a second card explaining it was all my fault and this is what happens when I'm allowed to write cards on my own...yes I took the sin upon myself, a bit like Jesus really only in this case it was *actually* my doing.

Urgh yeah we can only remember one name of the nice neighbors, not the female one...gonna have to do some investigating, I was considering asking; 'erm, excuse me but how do you spell your( if it is said lady one is speaking to) or your wife's (if it is Alastair one is addressing)name?' a sound plan (it has worked before) but it all goes horribly wrong if the answer is 'Jane' in which case they either sdee through your pathetic ploy or think you are a moron.

Or they might just go, 'with a y' and then you will not know whether she's called Jayne or Yojimbo (or Yvonne even, for some reason I suddenly couldn't think of any y names).
