FWIW, in Japan, American cars (such as the featured Cadillac limo) are rare and expensive - an upper class status symbol of sorts for the few that can afford them.
The same thing is true of American and European liquors in Japan. If they get a bottle of imported liquor, they'll display in their house as part of the decor, wait for a very special occasion to open it, then once the bottle is empty they'll still keep it on prominent display in their home. As one of my Japanese instructors put it: "Yes, your average Japanese family decorates with liquor bottles, just like your average American fratboy." :-)
