And even when tradition does rule a few days a week, all i'm saying is to make that day spectacular. I'm not promoting some absurdly infantile initiative to set aside indeterminate blocks of time for the intention of doing something different, i'm just saying not to settle for second rate stuff ( ... )

Dude, that's exactly why you should stick with Kevin's game coming up soon. Because he HAS a clear direction in mind and a definite end to the story. I know it's absurdly high level, but that makes it DIFFERENT from previous games, and I hope you're there with the rest of us to see it through.

Vegas?!? Are you fucking mental or did you just not read a word i wrote.

Man, Vegas is the most mediocre city in the ENTIRE FUCKING WORLD. But Vegas is SO desperate to prove that they're not mediocre that they're willing to spare the expense of wrapping an entire city in christmas lights just to prove how exciting they are...and yet ( ... )

Ah, but you don't know where I'm going... daq42 July 21 2006, 18:24:08 UTC
I intend to see Vegas from the other side of the mirror, and I want as many people as possible to join in the chronicles of this rather amusing adventure while it is there for the abusing.

Besides, you see Vegas as just The Strip. The tourist farm, the money factory, the Christmas lights and all have blinded you to the other that exists in that raised desert. And that would be the sands themselves and the beautiful night that it can harbor. Besides, you know you want to go where 100 degrees feels like a nice 85 and the drinks flow 24/7.

The beauty comes from the eyes anyway. Blind men do not speak of beauty.

I knew a blind man who spoke of beauty. It can come in the form of a sound or a touch or a taste or just the feeling that something went right and things will continue to go right somewhere down the line. Taking that past the literal and into the metaphorical/allegorical as i can only assume you have it here, the point of all this is that i've had the blinders on for too long. I've been shaking my cane at a thousand different substandards that move a little subbier every day and never actually called a spade a spade. I'm tired of that ( ... )

Dude, you're absolutely spot on about this. The only band that really impressed me the whole night was Dynamite Club. The others were okay. Not bad, not great, just sort of...mediocre.

And the fact that most of the punk kids left when the most interesting band went on stage, well...it's not surprising. It's indicative of our society as a whole. I know that you and I both have gotten angered over some of our favorite TV shows having been canceled because they were too creative or too daring or too different for anything more than a very narrow audience to appreciate. I used to blame the networks for not giving them a chance...but maybe it really IS the audience at fault. Perhaps the majority really DO simply want their boring safe stories that are just like everything else.

Anyway, it's been a while since we've done a random roadtrip. You doing anything Saturday evening/night? I think I got plans with my parents during the day, but after that I'd be up for going SOMEWHERE.

Am I to assume from this that Cleveland is a no-go?

I'm in. Any destination in mind, or is this a quick food run to the El Taco?

No, no destination in mind. Wherever.

And yes, Cleveland is canceled.

Sounds perfect. We'll hit up some nice romantic Bed & Breakfast in the mountains and take a drive down Skyline in the morning.

Ooh, things:

1. www.myspace.com/sorryfornothing - I work with the drummer, and he has not only a cowbell, but a custom cowbell. Indeed, so mighty is his cowbell that he has to mute it with tape else it's too loud. Not sure if the cowbell song's on that page, though. Also, they tend to be rather heavier than the stuff on there, when seen live. You might also want to try out myspace.com/mickywightman, he's a good friend of mine and writes his own music. Like, incessantly. People keep trying to recruit him in to bands from his myspace jobby.

Unfortunately, I can't remember anything else. I blame the hangover? Apparently Bacardi and coke isn't a good mixer with Kat.

bacardi and coke is a good mixer with everybody...the trouble is that the hangover is usually the desired effect.

Rest well and i'll take a look at these promptly.

Cheers.
