I find it amusing that I've been sent this article in various forms eleven times since yesterday...guess I just make people think of absinthe!
What I'd really like to see is a study involving brain scans. It's all very well saying that there are no excellent trips with absinthe anymore (I wonder whether this is because various now illegal drugs can no longer be added to your absinthe?) but the drunk from absinthe is very different in feel to the drunk you get off anything else, and I (in all my suggestible nature) find it to be a mellow condusive to tripping, a little like the high you get off pot only not quite. I'd find it interesting to know how different the thujone actually makes it.

Well, you know, you do go on about absinthe an awful lot!

The key point of the research is that there is as much chemical potential for absinthe trips now as there ever was, but it appears that they are far more closely related to set and setting than to the small quantities of herbs that provide the flavour. Which is to say that the whole absinthe kit and caboodle, the ritual and the mythology, is genuinely as important (if not more so!) then the recipe. Now that's a kind of magic... ;o)

Well ljuser=Lucrecia did say she was disappointed that after all my descriptions she didn't like absinthe at all!
