Yeah, you're not getting your $7 back. That's a pretty common scam. Next time, if you want to give someone money like that, you can always fill up the tank yourself, confirming that's where the money goes. Like when someone asks for money to get something to eat, I might give them something to eat instead of the money. I guess what they do with the money shouldn't really be my concern (and I'd be a hypocrite to say that they shouldn't buy alcohol, since I drink). But I also figure they do need food, even if they also want something else. I started carrying around granola bars just for that purpose, since I started feeling bad about always saying no. I kinda figured it was shady, especially when he pulled away in a different direction from the one I advised... When I have some free time, I'll do a reverse-lookup on the address, and see if I can contact someone there. If I don't get arrangements for repayment setup, I'll try to move it. A replacement card is $25, and this one was valid - along with his insurance and registration, all matching his name.
