i'd just gotten off work at the golf course and was heading down from the hills into newcastle. at first it was a shadow that ran to the side of the road. as i got closer i saw it was a black bear, i passed it going about 20mph then stopped and thought: "wait, did i really just see that?" so backed up and stopped right next to it. the bear was only about 10 feet off the road, i had my radio off and the windows down so it was like being right next to it. we looked at each other for like a full 5-10 seconds then i kinda grunted and ran off into the woods. it was crazy, it wasnt aggressive or scared at all, it was just wandering around like it happened to stumble onto civilization.
