What's cooking?

Hmm... it has recently come to my attention that I project an air of meanness right here on my journal. Rumours have been circulating that I have been known to bite the heads off of children. I am writing today to quash this silliness once and for all. The truth of the matter is, the only "biting" I'm doing is in my sarcasm.

Maybe it is just not palatable for most people... but I have always found a certain amount of intrigue in the bitter over the sweet. Sweet is easy. Sweet is everywhere you look, but a tasty bitter treat is hard to find!

The reader of these words must be able to eat what is offered up without the taste being drowned out by sickly sweet syrup. I am not serving up what is in popular demand. My dish is the one that you really want but are afraid to try. But fear not my friends, I have not poisoned the food. It is actually quite plain and without many different flavours. It's just what you need. Only the taste of the actual food, without all the colouring, additives, and different spices clouding the message. It is naturally tangy in your mouth.

Chewing down might offer a surprise. The chef might kiss you if you compliment him on his cooking. It is rare that he receives praise, because most don't dare bite into his most special treats. They are too unusual and threaten the modern day cuisine that we've grown accustom to and think we love. But love is just as bitter as it is sweet and if we deny ourselves the bitter taste we will diminish the value of the sweet. That taste is best when it comes as a relief from the more harsh flavour. But it seems as if our world is upside down with tons and tons of people offering us sweets. And what of those offering up a slice of lemon pie? Do not club them to death because if you look hard enough you might one day notice that they are the sweetest of them all...
