Call me middle-class and spoiled rotten, but the total lack of decent internet services to private users in Australia has been nothing short of appalling to me and the hubby, particularly having enjoyed a FANTASTIC service in the US these last 18 months. Even my father-in-law, living out in the boon docks of rural Norway, has better internet services than we do here, living in the nation's capital, in a suburb with "technology park" tacked on to the end of it.
Thanks to Telstras monopoly and a government not wanting to spend on infrastructure we're left with buttfuckingly slow innerweb.... So much for building a tech economy. Back to digging holes me thinks.
average, eh. i have 12mbps, so average doesn't mean faster isn't available, though obviously not everywhere. my parents are happy with 256k, there are probably a lot of non-tech people like that who drag down our average.
