Description

Are you ready to use your skills to make a real change and difference?

2 and 2 is the Elearning division of acclaimed digital communications company MassMedia Studios. We believe that e-learning should be engaging and relevant to the learner's real world experiences. To achieve this, our e-learning team blends the knowledge of educators with the specialised skills of multimedia developers. We design materials that allow learners to analyse, interrogate, interpret and shape the content they discover. We combine this with excellence in interactive design and development to deliver immersive e-learning materials that encourage a deeper understanding and retention of the information conveyed.

We are currently looking for the best Flash Developers to join our team and build a series of immersive and interactive e-Learning courses. We have two major projects that require full time / contract Flash Developers.

One project is in the area of environmental sustainability, involving the development of online learning materials to assist large corporations to make the cultural shift to more environmental sustainable practices. A genuine interest and passion for this area is a must for this project.

The other project is currently in production phase, delivering a wide range of learning objects for use in primary and high schools.

You will be in charge of bringing our content to life enabling our learners to be engaged on a highly interactive level. Being a global company your work has the potential to educate tens of thousands of people on best practice and sustainability issues beyond just changing the light bulbs.

Or maybe you're also sick of just knocking out ad banners and microsites and you want to get your teeth stuck into some kick-ass projects that last for months at a time. How about working with people who love what they do and who refuse to develop ropey code. Maybe it's so you can develop applications in Flex 2, Apollo and AS3, or maybe it's because kicking back for a beer at beer o'clock on Friday is more your thing.
Your Role as a Flash Developer

As a Flash Developer at MassMedia Studios you are responsible for developing content based around the Adobe Flash development platform for delivery over the internet and on multimedia devices such as kiosks and potentially, mobile devices.

This includes the development of games, user interfaces, banner ads, presentation material, applications, and e-learning.

You must also be capable of integrating dynamic, database-driven content and be experienced at publishing to various applications and systems.
Skills Overview

This role requires a high level of skill in the Adobe Flash Platform, and as such requires skills in programming using the latest version of Actionscript and the visual/design element of the platform, specifically:
  • High level ActionScript 2
  • OO coding
  • XML
  • CSS
  • Server-side scripting and integration
  • bitmap and vector graphics applications (Photoshop, Illustrator)

You are expected to be proactive in maintaining your knowledge of emerging techniques, technologies and design tools, and be capable of adopting them.
Required Skills/Qualifications
  • Degree or training in Multimedia Design, Graphic Design, Interface Development or a related area, or equivalent industry experience.
  • At least 3 years experience as a Graphic/Interactive Designer in one of the following areas; multimedia, agency creative, graphic design. At least 1 year experience in Web design.
  • High level of skill using Adobe Flash 8 Professional, including the use of ActionScript 2. Also experience integrating Flash with other multimedia technologies.
  • Expertise in design software on PC. Photoshop and Freehand/Illustrator skills required. Familiarity with Director, QuickTime and other Internet technologies are a bonus.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a production team.
  • Extensive cross-platform and cross-browser development experience.
  • Preferably experience with UI design and accessibility in Flash.
  • Comprehension of information and interface design. General understanding of HTML, capabilities of browsers and design constraints of the Internet.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment.
  • Understanding of time management and resource management in a creative department.
