It's been a good long while since I've watched any Doctor Who, so long that I can't rightly remember where I left off. It was definitely around the end of Season 4, and I remember a lot of shenanigans with Donna and the Doctor's severed hand (or something) so I must have been more or less caught up to the start of Season 5. Amy does run a bit hot and cold. My comparison of her to Donna is more relevant to the early episodes, when she starts really jumping into the Tardis lifestyle with both feet. And lines like "I dressed... for... RIO!" really could have come from Donna. But yeah, there are times she's just an annoying loudmouth, and both Rory and the Doctor let her get away with it waaayyy too much ("Mr Pond" indeed) and that out-of-the-blue skank moment... argh, it still burns ( ... )

Actually, they had the little "picture in picture" thing going during the director/actor commentary, and I can confirm that she's actually a bit annoying in real life, too. So maybe.

But I'm a bloke and she's hot (redhead Scottish chick hot, no less) so she gets a fair bit of impunity. That's just how it works. Sorry.

And it's not enough for them just to be Ebil! That's just rotten storytelling. They need a motivation for the ebilness. A raison d'ebil, if you will.
