SUBLETTING!! Also, pack posters. Ones that you don't mind getting squashed. Otherwise, there'll just be a lot of barren wall in your room to stare at. Or, I guess you could buy some Ethiopian ones? I was too cheap in Australia to buy many things I was just going to throw away, but the Ethiopian dollar is not so strong, so maybe posters would be cheap enough to throw away?

Also if you are in an area that is malaria prone (I know the highlands of Ethiopia are very low-risk for malaria but don't know your town), if you want to take Malarone I can hook you up with some discount Malarone. Malarone is the malaria prophylactic with the least severe or common side effects. It is no more effective than the other common malaria drugs, but it is way easier on your system. However I'm sure VSO is hooking you up with some Larium...just let me know if you want some Malarone too.

If ethiopia's anything like uganda, don't bother bringing too many clothes -- you can buy them all at the local markets for super-cheap, and by the time I was finished in uganda all my clothes I'd brought were totally wrecked anyway. Saves some suitcase space.

Invite me to your going-away!
