Scary, isn't it? A student at the high school I used to teach at was written up several times for refusing to say the pledge. Also, at this same school where there is a fucked up dress code, one that doesn't allow students to wear logos, a girl was sent home for wearing a shirt with the american flag on it, which said something like "american girl" below it. What a sham.
Well, in certain areas (such as inner-city Detroit where I spent my formative years) logos can serve as gang affiliation identifiers. Perhaps that's this particular schools' rationale?
