I am now in a committed relationship with a wonderful man. When I stopped looking it happened. We are talking engagement and marriage. Yet we have miles to go in communication and becoming comfortable with being with and not being with each other. We take regular breaks - but communicate constantly. For us a formalized method of giving each other time when the walls close in or that feeling of smothering or the "irritation factor" engulfs either.

I know your tremendously talented ability with the pen gives you a way to communicate with a medium that give time for thought, retrospect and full consideration. When I get frustrated with Steven, I put it to pen, review it the next day and if it is still a warranted concern send it to him for his deliberation.
