Strangeness on AT&T Uverse

My AT&T Uverse had a stroke tonight. It didn't go down, but it certainly isn't up. As best as I can describe it, it had a stroke, because everything works but port 80.

The network is up. All traffic seems to go in and out just fine for every protocol except outbound HTTP connections. Those just go into a black hole. (HTTPS appears to be OK ( Read more... )

Likely transparent proxying. Deep packet inspection prolly woulda hit more than just port 80. Alternately, they could be tracking web sessions aiming to sell directed advertising, but I’d also believe some kind of content-blocker for the RIAA or government, or potentially just general anti-malware proxy so they can claim to be “more secure” than their competitors. Then again, they could just be trying to save some upstream bandwidth by installing squid and caching LJ icons.
