tough mudder

Went and did Tough Mudder yesterday. made it all the way through and got my tough mudder orange headband. Some of the obstacles beat me, some were really fun. The paths were bad. But I dragged myself through it, and at the end that is quit literally. My hip gave out second to last obstacle. But I finished anyway. Walked most of it, couldn't get any ( Read more... )

You are insane. I had to look this event up just to see it... but my gut tells me that if I'm doing something that makes my hip give out, I'm probably not going to do it again. Then again, I'm insane for different reasons...

Congratulations on finishing that one though. It does actually look quite difficult.

I don't think you were following me back then. Ran over by a dunk Sept 2003. Trama Center and ICU doctors said I wouldn't walk again. If I did, it would be a miracle and I'd need a cane or more likely walker the rest of my life. But then again, they said it was a miracle I wasn't dead or paralyzed already, the way I landed (back of the head first after going off the car).

My hip got a little sore trail running. But that I think was more the slipping and sliding on the mud than anything else. What really put my hip out was landing on it, while trying to get up Everest (the half pipe).

Really, even though they say it's probably the toughest event on the planet, it wasn't that bad.

You know what you should do for grins? Japanese game shows. Just go over there and teach English, that'll pay for your everyday life, but then do game shows. Hell, start here with American Ninja Warrior! They'll send you to Mt Midoriyama!

I've actually gotten an invite, through the parkour group I'm in, to go do american ninja warrior. or at least try out for it.

I'm not in that shape yet. Even if I do have a pic of Levi and me, when he was in town last July.

I know a girl who's going to do it. I fear for her. She's always been a tiny, puny little thing without an ounce of muscle. She's taken up marathon running recently, which is pretty scary to think of because she has no reserves to draw from and just, nothing but bones and skin. She doesn't even have that tough sinewy thing going. I think she's going to die out there on the pavement.

if she's going to do tough mudder, she's going to want to build some muscle, unless she doesn't mind having guys cop a feel while helping her over the walls and the like.
