I thought this was probably the best way to share the following with lots of people, and if you feel so moved, please pass it on.

I was at work [the world's largest retailer and it starts with a W, if you know what I mean] a few days ago, waiting for my shift to start and knitting.  I often use my ipod in the break room to avoid the complaining and ( Read more... )

That is fabulous! How wonderful to see that people can still be so kind. Thanks for the reminder about giving, too.

is this your writing... your experience? Not that it is any less valid if it is not...it is a good thing to be generous ALL the year, but it had the flavor of an urban legend...

Yes this happened last week where I work. I do not send chain letters. I just hoped that others would be moved to do the same kind of thing. This is for real as it gets.

cool! It has the potential to be one of those "friend of a friend" things we read on the urban legends page, though! I suspect many of them started -- somewhere in the distance past -- with a real event, also. At least this time I can say "I know the original writer!"

I will continue to do likewise, within my means... which means that I can sometimes offer a buck or two, if the person in line comes up short. But that's about it... in money, we are as poor as the field mice.

This is so beautiful! I believe in the goodness of people and the divinity within them. Angels are amongst us. What was that movie called? Pass it On. I am always trying to do things like this for people. Right now I wish I had a job at that big store that starts with a "W" lol Have been unemployed since April just doing my freelance writing and working on Saturdays at a Vitamin Store. But the Goddess will come through for me. I believe in miracles and I'll certanily pass on the wealth and love that these people showed with whatever I have to give. Blessed Be. Cynthia

I hear ya... ditto here, "starving artist", designer... my part-time gig dried up with the changing of the season (not many folks want to take a canoe down a river in Maine in the winter, even if it isn't frozen over yet... LOL)

These are such heartwarming stories...

I'll add two of my own:
Twice a day I take the toll road to work and frequently pay double so that the person behind me gets a free toll.

Yesterday, we had a bake sale fundraiser for Ho-Bo Care Boxer Rescue and told each person who walked up that there was no set price, we just asked them to give what they felt was appropriate... one couple purchased two small loaves of banana bread for $40.00, one person purchase one peanut butter cookie for $5.00 and another person gave $10.00 for a single bottle of water.
