I had a meeting on friday with Raymond Sexy Raymond about building a puppet for him, we got back into my car after the meeting at the Pub only to discover my brakes had gone out. ive seen some 500Gb ones online. I need it to store raw video footage which takes up lots of space

You can almost certainly buy a hard drive and an external hard drive enclosure for cheaper, Gb per Gb, than a combined external hard drive.

The only thing I would add to this is make sure is has USB2.0 or Firewire minimum. Video for iMovie (and especially Final Cut if you decide to go that way later on) requires a lot of data throughput.
