I suppose I should be sad.

My first thoughts were that "his" children might get a chance at a normal life now. I liked one of his songs, but not enough to buy it on cassette.

Don't, if you don't want to be sad.

I think pretending to be sad comes under hypocrisy doesn't it???

If this is about Michael Jackson - I do not feel anything at all. never knew the man. Never liked his music; never understood why he was so popular.

Got something real to be sad about at my workplace.
Veteran whose brother made himself rather famous in 2006 (by shooting himself as a protest on the 11th floor at DVA in La Trobe St, Melbourne) died at 4am from lung cancer.

Shane Heffernan was a really great bloke and he's leaving behind several friends and family members who are absolutely rocked at his death (only diagnosed recently... didn't last the 3 months given)...

Vale Shane Heffernan

I'm sorry to hear that. You're not the only person I know who just lost someone they actually knew. Must make it even harder when it comes at a time that everyone else seems to be mourning someone they never met...

I find it bizarre that people mourn someone they never met.

Today is also the 17th anniversary of that friend of mine I caught up in the airport with recently's mum's death... now THAT was one for the record books.

Mrs & Mr Cowdell were on their long service leave, driving through Kakadu when a tree just fell on their 4WD and killed Mrs Cowdell. She died quickly but they weren't found for nearly 8 hours. Mr Cowdell is still around.

I'd much rather mourn people I knew...

And don't be sorry. Shane had lung cancer and mercifully he suffered a really short time between diagnosis and death and his condition detoriated overnight so rapidly. Mrs Cowdell died quickly too...

As for Michael Jackson, I'm so glad he died of something NORMAL and wasn't frozen for chriogenisis (spelling??)
