Graduation Rant

Why is it that on "your day" you spend it making sure that everyone else is ok? I'm not a fan of much personal fanfare. I like to do things and maybe get a congratulations and then we move on. I don't want pats on the back and the usual blathering about pride and accomplishments. This is one of the reasons I could never imagine getting married, having to deal with the congratulatory conversations...

So... graduation is coming up and I'm already stressed out about it. Less because April and Tameka will be there. Less because My family will get their first meetings with April. Mostly because we are going to have to take about 1000 pictures, go out to dinner, I'm going to get "So what are you going to do now?" "All finished, you are an adult now!" "Way to go!" and the like. This is going to go on all day. I'm going to be in hell all day. I don't even want to go to fucking commencement or the department graduation. I'm definitely going to have to go to commencement. I'm definitely going to get into an argument with my mom about how selfish I am when I begin to get pissy around 4 o'clock. I won't be sharing in the family time. I won't be enjoying the positivity. Thing is that none of that is fun for me, it is quite the opposite.

We don't get to have "our" days because they aren't yours, they are everyone else's. Your day means that it is Your day to make everyone happy. Your only day is the day you die and you don't get to enjoy it./rant

Still it is nice to never have to register or take another college class again. And besides, a lot of people go to college for seven years...

So I completely missed the Radiohead show due to 6, thats right 6 hours of traffic on 95. 6 hours to get from Richmond to Nissan. No lanes closed. No car accidents. Meh, it's only been 5 years since they came out this way and what is 200 dollars worth of tickets among friends? My eye still twitches when I think about it. Rilo Kiley shall be at Toad's Place in a couple weeks though. ...yay...

I need 40 winks and a cap n' gown.
