Settlers of Catan is the smack-talkin'est board game there ever was.  The other night we played at Brett, Tyler, etc's house.  When we play, we frequently behave in the sort of way you'd expect people to behave if they were about to end their friendships.  It's understood that you're allowed to be an utter and complete bastard within the game and ( Read more... )

Ha! Some friends and I were just talking about this game a few hours ago. I've only played it once, but I won one of two games, so I like to think I'm a champion.

Heh. Yeah, I knew that was shaky. I meant that I played twice in one night. "It was late and I was tired" is no excuse for imprecision from someone with an English degree, but... it was late and I was tired. And "champion" was my rendition of self-deprecating sarcasm.

High school English, eh? How did that go?

I love that game, but I suck at winning it. I become very concerned with completely surrounding a plot of pasture for sheep. I build cities around sheep. I use sheep as my only currency. The land overflows with fluff hills and lanolin rivers. It's glorious. Once I have secured and fortied my little sheepworld, I'm totally content to let someone else win.
