By Texas law, a parent is allowed to purchase an alcoholic beverage for his/her minor child at a restaurant, provided that parent remains at the table with the drink.  This means that if the parent gets up and does not take the beverage with him/her, the restaurant is instantly breaking the law.

funny you mention that. in texas a spouse can also buy for their underage partner, but must stay with them also, with the same rules applied as when a parent purchases for their child. it's completely confounded and complicated, so many restaurants just won't serve to minors either way. it's ridiculous. texas likes their rules and regulations, though, and they like to give people their personal freedoms but of course it must be WITHIN TEH LAW!!! such a pig state; their alcohol laws here are so. utterly. stupid.

Do they allow alcohol sales on Sunday in Texas yet? I thought I wouldn't see them in Kansas as soon as we did.
