For a couple of days, I was having real trouble with my right ear. You know the sound of wind blowing on the other end when you're on the phone? Something like that would happen inside my ear every so often, for a little more than a second at a time. It was loud, but below the pain threshold. Distracting as hell, no matter what you're doing.

Oh god. Oh god. One time I imagined there was a bug in my ear but it was too horrifying to let myself believe. Oh god.

HOWEVER. Skepticism: Could it really live in there that long? What would it eat? Or was it dead when it came out?

Wikipedia tells me that though they prefer polysaccharides commonly found in paper and glue (exterminators like my Papa talk about how they love books, magazines, and wallpaper), they can also subsist on dead skin cells and the like. They can easily survive a few days without much food, regardless, and I forgot to mention that this one was alive when I found him--though just for good measure, I stomped him into oblivion and then some.
