I used to read news articles about people doing stuff, see their age and think, ha, look at that guy, doing shit, when he's that age.

Now I read them and think, well fuck, I'm that age and haven't done anything I really wanted to do.

Tick, tock.

All my childhood I heard TV, books, parents, teachers, and the adult world in general glorify youth, saying it lasts for such a short time and that it's the best time of your life.

I took this to heart. I knew time was short. Despite much of the time being spent indoors, I made sure that no matter what I was doing, for the vast bulk of my childhood and teens, I made sure I was enjoying myself. Even if I was on my own. (whenIwasakid, we made our own fun! My lawn! Off it!)

I often wonder how this has shaped my view of the adult world, whether it's made me more or less selfish, lazy, narrow/broad-minded... The only thing I DO know is that I have an extraordinary length of patience and an attention span that, Hey, is that Captain Planet in your avatar?

ive always wanted/tried to do things... but my own self seemed repulsed about the idea, constantly letting me down in all my ventures... frustrating really. but the few things i did do... i remember effortlessly.

Also, my opinion of Lady Gaga has done a complete 180 in the last few days. Find a video of her accoustical version of Poker Face, live in Tokyo. She's actually really fricken talented, she just chooses to market her talent squarely at pop music. Which is sensible, because that nets the most money.
