AN: Thanks to RaeRae for helping me figure this out.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MY KATELING! <3
This is unbetaed or proofed cause of time.
Tuon was sleeping in. He was determined to sleep in. No matter how much the annoying intruder in his room wanted otherwise. Thankfully, so far, she’d been content to just sit in the chair staring at him. He hoped that if he refused to acknowledge her, she’d leave and he could go back to sleep.
A few minutes later he made the mistake of peeking an eye open, causing her to pounce. “Hah! I knew you’d crack. Rise and shine, Sunshine! You’re the East, anyway, you should be the morning person. Up! Up! Up!”
“Ugh, you’re not even supposed to be in here.” He flung his pillow at her, which then deprived him of his pillow and guaranteed he’d be getting up. “I hate you.”
“Meh, it’s a stupid rule. As if either of us are interested in the other. Nowget up!” She jumped on the bed, forcing him to sit up.
“By Gaea, what is with you this morning! Shouldn’t you and Cearul be having twin time or something?” He sat up and stretched, “Or be asleep...why are you up?”
Siobhan rolled her eyes and swatted at him, “Cearul stupidly got himself in trouble and gets to spend his freeday copying the code of conduct for knights.” She grinned and leaned in to ruffle his hair, “Besides, your jealousy over my twin is cute and weird and I thought I’d see what I could do to make you get over it.”
“I’m no more jealous of Cearul than you are of my sisters.” He ignored the look she gave him as he swatted her hand away. “Between all of us, how am I the one who gets his hair messed with?”
“Grumpy this morning! Some other girl kick your ass lately.”
He ignored the barb and got out of bed, away from her, neither concerned remotely about his state of undress. “So, I’m up, but why should I do whatever it is you’re wanting?”
“Because.” Siobhan grinned, and it was that grin that he could not help but return. “You’re behaving and I’m not projecting, but you still know that I’m up to something and whatever it is you know you want in on it.”
Tuon rolled his eyes as he pulled on pants, “Any chance of you telling me what it is?”
“Nope. Not until you shower and dress.”
Siobhan was grinning to herself as she waited on Tuon. He might pretend to protest, but she knew if she hadn’t invited him he would pout. Actually, it was bad enough that if Endymion caught word, he might pout, and if he were available, she would have grabbed the prince too. She chuckled as she decided they’d make it up to him next free day.
“What are you up to?”
She looked up to see the leader of their group entering the common room. “Morning to you, too, Karan.”
“Siobhan, whatever it is...”
“Oh leave them be.” Nascha entered behind the other and slapped him on the shoulder. “Just because you refused to have any fun when you were their age, doesn’t mean the kiddies shouldn’t be allowed to get into mischief.”
Karan removed Nascha’s hand from his shoulder and rolled his eyes. “We had plenty of fun when we were their age.”
“Yeah. Most of it was trying to keep the two of them from killing each other.” Nascha smirked, “Leave them be.”
“Hmmph. Just don’t make me come rescue you.”
Siobhan smiled innocently, “When have you ever had to rescue us?”
“Twice in the last month, Brats, the both of you.”
“Hey!” Tuon protested as he joined them, “Both of those times you had to rescue three of us.”
“Yeah, but you know Master Duty and Serious over there.” Nacha laughed, “No matter how true it is, he’ll never call Endy a brat.”
“Ok,” Tuon grinned as he picked up another water filled section of pig intestine. “Over my shoulder, eyes closed, just using our link--so no fair shutting me out, that wagon.” He pointed from where they were on the battlement to an empty wagon.
“Over your shoulder is stupid. You can’t hit that.” Siobhan taunted him. “How about...” She pointed to an archery target closer, “That?”
“Ass. Shut up and focus.”
With a chuckle, Siobhan looked at the wagon as Tuon threw. While it did not land in the wagon, he did manage to hit a wheel. “Not bad!” She clasped his shoulder, “Well done!”
He mockingly bowed, “At your service, mi’lady.”
“Those are fighting words!” Siobhan grabbed one of the lengths and Tuon held up his hands in surrender before they both collapsed in laughter.
“All right, your turn...” Tuon looked out and smirked, “The gatehouse. That’s too far for over the shoulder, but eyes closed. You are our archer.”
“You call that a challenge.” Siobhan shrugged and gagged the distance until she could see it with her eyes shut. Closing her eyes, she heft the section a couple of times before throwing it with confidence. She grinned as she watched it, only opening her eyes once she’d released. “Hah!”
“Show off.”
“It was your challenge!”
The rest of the morning passed the same, challenging each other, showing off, a couple of minor wrestling bouts.
By lunch time, they were intoxicated with the fun, and began to get careless and thoughtless with their targets, moving to a turret that would allow them to actually see the Lords and Ladies of the court as they strolled about and picnicked. “Rank race?!”
“You’re on!”
Ducking between each toss, did not give either time for careful aim, and in the fun of the day, they’d forgotten the reason they were two that day. Aretz’s sister and her daughter were visiting, and Endy was expected to entertain the young lady, a fact they remembered when one of Siobhan’s water bombs got the the small royal party.
The punishment was not overly harsh, since Aretz and her niece, if not her sister, had been amused, but Karan had not been able to rescue them. Endymion had pouted, but he’d also laughed once he joined them that evening in the common room.
“And you should’ve seen Beryl.” He giggled, “She shrieked at first, but then when she realized what it was, she couldn’t stop laughing. Which we needed. It was so boring. I would have rather been with you.”
Karan sighed, “Then you’d be on restrictions for the next month of rest days, too, Endymion.”
“Yeah, but...” The prince looked to the two trouble makers, “It was worth it right?”
Siobhan and Tuon looked at each other and then broke out in grins, “Completely.”
