Based on my own personal observations in Virginia, playground of the Confederacy, I've come up with a theory.

If one is an attractive, educated female living below the Mason-Dixon line, one has two choices when entering a relationship with a male of similar, Southerly persuasion.  The female in question can enter a typical arrangement with said
