Voting

I had planned on not voting this year. Normally I would berate others for coming to this decision, but I think about it like this: While one might say that folks that don't vote don't have any right to complain about who gets in, I could counter with the fact that we're faced with two candidates who, in my opinion, are not qualified for the job ( Read more... )

Here's how I look at that shit. . .

MD will more than likely vote Obama anyway, and everyone knows it. Your presidential vote won't matter that much here, and it's too late to move to Ohio, Florida, or one of the other couple states that REALLY run the country.

Voting or not voting for President may not matter, but you can have some impact in smaller elections. Since you work for the school system, some of that shit really hits home for you. So, for local reasons alone, you should vote.

Also, the press never mentions it, but there's always the option of alternative parties. Sure, the chances of any of them winning now are pretty slim, but the more votes any of them get, the harder it is to ignore them. That, and I think anyone who gets more than 5% of the vote qualifies for federal funds.

Rock the vote. Reading is fundamental!
