... and listening to this song just recently, i realized a small technical note. The "pitch bent echos" on the chimes near the top of the tune -- in 1977 -- were likely pretty non-trivial. I'm pretty sure it was done via a tape-delay where the engineer manually slowed the capstan speed during the effect. They only use it twice, which is good, cuz it'd be easy to overdo, but it's as if they're saying, "check this out, muddafakkers!" It wasn't anything groundbreaking, but it was definitely not just a pull-down-menu in ProTools.
I get asked all the time "What's your favorite /2ush song?", or "What's your favorite album?" Like any true fan, I've got about seven answers to that question, but I'll never forget the Roll the Bones tour, when we were on the lawn, stage left (to watch Geddy of course), and the boys played Xanadu, which at that point hadn't been done in years.
