you see I also had a problem with not doing well in school, but unlike you I have trained myself not to care, which is the worst possible thing to do because I don't feel any desire to change my ways. The thing with me is I used to be a really proud person. I was smart and I knew it, and somehow I felt that I was better then other people because of it, but then I started to do poorly in school, some of it due to not grasping the concepts and some due to the fact that I cared more about enjoying myself then agonizing over school work. That absolutely devastated me. So I shut down, I stopped caring and now I find it extremely difficult to motivate myself to do well in classes that I am not all that interested in.

So I am not the only one that agonizes over the dumb shit I have said and done over the years. I seriously need to let that stuff go because (hopefully) I am the only one that remembers. Why do we do that to ourselves?

I haven't talked to you in forever, but reading this was almost heart-breaking. I really hope you do forgive yourself, because, as you've already admitted, it's not your fault, though you may think it is and blame yourself.

As for your high school grades, well. You can always do well at Central and then transfer, if you still want to go to U of M. (But while I love it here, it's got a lot to hate.)

Wow, Chelsey. I wish I'd seen you more in the summer. Are you going to be around for Christmas break? If so, we should do something. And also, you should come to our apartment's New Year's Eve party and/or Cari's and my 21st birthday party.

Wishing you the best, and a happy Thanksgiving.

I feel like grades sometimes get too much importance placed upon them. They're not always a fair measurement of knowledge about a subject.
