OK FAGS! Here’s your bright Obama Day!

Dec 18, 2008 08:27

For those gay who bitched at me relentlessly for supporting Hillary Clinton during the primaries, or yelled at me when I bitched about Biden's comment on gay marriage during the VP debate. I have say….. SUCK IT! I told you so! To quote dogpound : “I really thought Obama would have waited until at least the end of January before he threw us under the bus” ( Read more... )

Hmmm... I agree with many of the previous statements, including those that say Obama is simply trying to reach across the lines to include everyone as well as those that say the gays always get shafted after the election has been won. HOWEVER...

While this is very disappointing, on a personal note I'm simply tired of living in a state of eternal pessimism. Bush's regime had me in a perpetual state of despair over the state of our nation and where it was going. If the Republicans had won the election, I would have had no hope. Indeed, I might be seriously looking into international relocation at this very moment. ...but they didn't. Do I believe in Obama? I'm honestly not sure. I know he's tons better than the alternative. Frankly, I rarely do enough political research or stay in-tune with current news enough to feel that I'm well informed enough to voice informed opinions. Setting all of that aside, I'm making the personal CHOICE to have hope.

Should we express our displeasure at this decision? Abso-fu*king-lutely! I will act on ( ... )

If you intend to source your optimism in believing anything any politician says... need I go on?

Um, no... That's not what I meant to say at all. I meant to say that I'm choosing to hope for the future regardless of what the politicians say, *but* lest I be further unclear I'm also not willing to give up on hoping that Obama will change things for the better because of this one incident. I still think he can do great things for the nation and gays specifically, and this one incident of "reaching out to the opposition" does not set the tone of his entire presidency.

As I said above, I will act on injustice in order to drive change, but I will not dwell on it. I will be righteously angry, but I will not condemn others the way they've condemned me (tho it's mighty tempting sometimes).

Geez, MRP. The man isn't even in office yet.

Anyone can complain, condemn, and criticize. Save your outrage for when he truly fucks up, which he may very well do.

This was “truly” a fuck up! This is no better than him asking a member of the Aryan Nation or The Grand Wizard of the KKK to swear him in. The “man” he asked defines YOU as sick and unnatural! Rick Warren preaches that homosexuals are the same as pedophiles, and people that practice incest and bestiality

Do you think if he was a preaching Anti-Semitism he would be swearing Obama in? So why are you gay all taking this and making excuses for him?

I agree Obama was the best choice out there, but when he fucks up
He deserves to be called on his shit like anybody else.

You really show your age when you call someone kid-o. It could even be construed as patronizing. You might as well just call me "tiger." =p

Honestly, I get that you don't like it, neither do I. But lashing out at your flist isn't calling Obama on anything. You'll notice that I changed my opinion about the Prop 8 situation after your post about it a couple months back so I feel like my opinions and feelings are malleable and open-minded. But to be honest, one thing I'm becoming more and more exhausted with is the vast amount of negative energies people just sling about without concern with what the impact will be. It's never positive.

For me, it's less about Obama and any jack-off he picks to swear him in ( or any other political minutia people want to rant about), and more about having to read peoples constant outrage. It's exhausting.

Like I said, anyone can complain, condemn, and criticize.

Sorry if you took Kid-o as patronizing. It wasn’t meant to be. I call everyone Kio-o (even your roomate) I guess I’ll stop that. But as long as you’re looking on the “positive” side. Think of it as a comment on how young you look

Lashing out, or a better word for it would be venting my anger to my f-list is much better then running out in the street and screaming.

Looking on the positive side is great! (and I'm working on doing more of that) but there has to be time for venting, and this is one of those times. Harvey Milk didn’t get people together to march because they wanted a warm positive & loving walk down Market Street. Momentum was stated because people needed to vent their anger.

Besides I’d rather read an angry or negative post that I disagree with than one That reads “I like cheeses....who else does?” Which L-J has in abundance.

Two things to remember here that make the debate all the more interesting, and perhaps lasting: the surge in the black vote that helped clinch the California gay marriage ban; and one other Obama off-note from the election. He underperformed John Kerry's 2004 support in only two demographics nationwide: with voters 65 and older, and gays and lesbians.

And Obama knows what he's doing: evangelical Christians are lauding the Warren pick and -- as a Christian Broadcasting Network column shows -- noting that Obama is angering liberals rather than conservatives.

At the same time, word is leaking that he may appoint an openly gay man Secretary of the Navy.

Yeah, this is pure politics on his part. But I don't think Hillary is above this sort of thing either. Fuck Obama. He's the lesser of two evils and that's the best I can say. It's time to start holding the Dem's feet to the fire. If we don't see the repeal of DADT, the passing of ENDA and at least a mention of some form of civil union type federal recognition - it's time to start withholding campaign contributions and volunteer time.

He may wind up being a decent President for the nation as a whole, but it's more obvious now that he won't be a good President for our community.

Amen!

a) fuck obama
b) he's the lesser of two evils, but still evil, as evidenced by his ability to be seriously considered as a candidate. This therefore applies to Ms. Clinton too.
c) let's get this fukkin party started

The fact that everyone "had" to put the above away just to get him elected boggles my mind.
