life is good :)

Hey LJ,

I went with fractallia to her niece's birthday party at Chuck E Cheese's a few weekends ago. We couldn't park in the main lot, so we parked across the street at Austin Regional Clinic. The birthday party finished, the young child shut down from information overload, and we left to return to my car. It was overcast and gloomy, and we met a starving, shivering dog in the parking lot.

fractallia and I, a mother and daughter, and another couple spent over an hour in the freezing cold trying to capture the dog to see if it needed help. We spent nearly the entire time tossing ginger snaps at it to try to entice it closer to us, but it was uncannily evasive and untrusting. Even though it wore a collar, and it most likely had an owner, we still wanted to get a hold of it since it was hanging out dangerously close to the highway.

In the end, we were unable to get a hand on it, and we ended up calling animal control, who hadn't show up by the time we ran out of ginger snaps. We followed the dog back into the adjacent neighborhood, and it turns out that it lived at a house very near where we were. It was out of food, and its owner didn't seem to be home. Well, I don't know what happened in the end. After an hour and a half of freezing and failing, we decided to leave.

Thanksgiving was pleasant and laid back. I spent it with fractallia's family, and we had a traditional feast for the holiday. At one point, a Pyrex dish was unintentionally left on the stovetop burner, and it erupted in a spectacular explosion of glass and stuffing. fractallia got sprayed across the belly, but there was thankfully no damage. We tried to watch the newest Star Trek movie, but the house was so incredibly loud that I just gave up after a while.

I went to the Kings and Things show this weekend. The acts were great, the Emcee was amazing, and the Queertastiks were fabulous. The Emcee had this midlife-crisis-havin-church-lady thing going on, and I thought it was utterly delightful. That was my first time seeing the Queertastiks (am I spelling that right?), and they put on an energetic performance. It was difficult for me to actually hear the cheers since a crowd of loud women walked up next to us just as their set was beginning.

I met a couple at the last poly dinner, and they were both there at the show. They seemed grateful to have someone they knew there, even though the girl is evidently in with the femme crowd. The girl is very cute, and I was glad to see them. There are people who come to one poly dinner and are never seen again, but I hope they decide to come back.

Walking to my car to go home was a bitch. fractallia and I parked 7 or 8 blocks away from Elysium, and the freezing wind cut through our pale bodies every step of the way. Damn, I hate the cold.

kulilinei and knighthorse's Trunk Show was delicious and fun. I wanted to buy some soaps, but as things stand now, my bank account is depleted from ordering Generic Winter Holiday gifts for people important to me. Maybe next time?

Work Update

I've officially received my shift - I will be working from 11:15AM to 8:15PM Monday through Friday starting this Friday. In my opinion, it's the ideal shift for me, since it will allow me to be flexible with stuff I need to do during the day while still letting me go to parties and stay up late if I want to. I was able to get my shift by scoring so well on my training exams. Of the 17 people in my class, I ranked number one :D

I'm excited since we're actually going to be taking live calls tomorrow and begining the troubleshooting effort in earnest. Hope I do well.

P.S.

Old, I know. Not Work Safe.
