Chinese New Year's
fractallia is finally finished moving into her new place. To celebrate, we had a Chinese New Year's / Valentines Day / Anti-Valentine's Day / Housewarming party featuring a large array of candy, crackers, dried out Chinese snacks and random Youtube videos. It was a bright, open, friendly space filled with fun people who I don't feel like I get to see enough. To me, it felt the way a gathering of friends should be. Nothing much to report - the cats were locked into the bedroom, nectar flowed like beer, I still don't like to eat coconut, and at one point we introduced interactiveleaf to Awesome Review Man and his kickass review of Avatar.
Eating Disorder Auction
I went to watch orangetango perform her body-positive dance at an art auction last weekend. It would be the first time seeing her group perform and I ended up playing cameraman. I didn't really know what to expect, but they ended up being incredibly professional, picking fun music and dancing with grace and ease. It was inspiring.
I was glad to see them dance, but ultimately I ended up feeling a bit awkward. The art auction was held in honor of a woman who had died due to an eating disorder. Thing is, I didn't know who she was, and I felt a little bad about coming to an event centered around a person without even knowing her name. I entered a raffle and I'm actually sort of relieved that I didn't end up winning anything.
Other Stuff / Social Life
By and large, most of the not-work/ not-girlfriend time I've been spending with other people has been with my gaming group. -begin nerd- They've followed a calico kitty into a land where human-sized animals drive cars and live in houses. They came in search of one of the character's gay boyfriend but are now going to strike off into the woods to rescue the children of the animal village who were kidnapped by a raiding wolf party. Also, one of the characters has eaten an odd fruit and has grown ears. What horrible fates may befall our intrepid heroes? -end nerd-

When you create a character for a New World of Darkness game, you pick a Vice and Virtue that sort of define your character's morals. The seven vices are the seven deadly sins and the seven Virtues are Charity, Faith, Fortitude, Hope, Justice, Prudence and Temperance. I've heard five of those seven words used as women's names.
