Hey LJ,
PBF
Poly Big Fun was amazing; that was easily the most fun I've had in quite a long time.
feetwilltravel did an amazing job of organizing everyone and making sure things got done. I feel a little bad because I missed the breakfast shift I signed up for, but I had a really good reason. Honest. The whole weekend was fun, pleasant, relaxing, very well put together, and full of hot sex :)
fractallia and I had cabin space, but we ended up sleeping outside regardless. If I had to guess, I'm fairly sure I prefer to sleep in a tent, although the main reason that we eschewed the cabins was that we couldn't get two beds next to each other. So, Friday night we laid together on our air mattress and listened to the soft patter of raindrops our tent walls shook and shimmied. That thing is damn resilient even when it's only half-staked down.
We did Pirate Tag all weekend and it was incredibly well received. It was easy for me to set up and take down thanks to some good prep work courtesy of
wesbante. After we got there,
fractallia and I sat around with markers and made an awesome sign explaining the signup process, etc. People loved it; I got so many compliments and for the most part they ran along the lines of, "Wow I thought that was going to be lame but it turned out not to be lame." I didn't personally forge any new relationships with any of the people at the event, but I was one girl's "first poly kiss". I'll take those bragging rights :D
Weekend activities included:
Hiking with
fractallia down the path that winds behind our campsite and saying hi to the ROTC kiddos who were carrying compasses and maps. We chased the little blue-green beetles that we spotted while on the trail and tried to take pictures of them.
Sitting in on
emmainfiniti's insightful session on apologies. I'm glad I went since I learned a lot about the different ways people interpret them, although I feel a little silly since my contribution amounted to little more than, "Doesn't it just depend?". I feel like it's a valid viewpoint.
Helping
fractallia after she got stung by a bee. It happened after the event had wrapped up and we were sitting around chatting. Turns out she has a handy instruction book for how to repair your body after various forms of external harm. Radical self reliance, bitches.
Puzzle time with
gryphynkit.
Watching
fractallia and another hot blonde girl get cupped in Cabin 4.
Getting over my fear of camp showers.
Tent sex.
Marvelling at the cute little shirt they had in the lobby. It was a graham cracker and a bar of chocolate both holding a marshmallow's hands. One of them was saying, "I love you," and the other said, "I love you s'more." I swear, they put that shirt out for us intentionally.
New Apartment!
So I messed up and arranged to move into my apartment the same week as PBF. Luckily, I was able to do most of the moving myself, and I had already taken a bunch of stuff over to
fractallia's place before I even got the keys.
Let me just say that
in_quinecorners,
juliarandolph and
fractallia are three sexy awesome people.
Social Stuff
Moviegasm was pleasant and fun. I don't know how they do it, but
interactiveleaf and
throm regularly have the most laid back house I've ever been in. I didn't really watch too many movies, although I will say that their new screen kicks 8 kinds of ass.
Poly Dinner was great this past Wednesday. I guess it's to be expected the first dinner after PBF, but the vast majority of the people I love and care about were there. I feel socially awkward sometimes, and I did a little bit at this last dinner, but rest assured: if you catch me staring at you you can take that to mean that I'm happy to see you and wish I had enough time to sit down and have a real conversation with you. I got some delightful smooches and even more sexy hugs.
There's this cute redhead who I had met a year ago and she was also at dinner. Evidently, she and her hubby have emigrated to Austin. I got her number; I hope smoochies will ensue :)
There have been like 400 birthday parties in the past few months.
ambientsidewalk's was great; we sat around playing Rock Band and I got to show off my drumskillz, and then we watched Rocky Horror while sitting outside in the cool air. It was so weird hearing all of the different call lines that were brought together from different parts of Texas in different decades. I think people liked the newer ones that I knew, although one of them got groans of distaste, so all might not be well.
Other Stuff
My gaming group is almost done with our little animal game. It's left me feeling kind of unfulfilled for a few reasons - one of which is that half of our group doesn't show up any more. I guess it was fun while it lasted, but I really, really want to participate in a more serious kind of game. There are so many great options out there for running fantasy or horror, and I want to try those with a group that's actually devoted enough to meet on time.
Work is going very well. I'm regularly ranking #1 on the floor, so that's good. There's a decent possibility that I might end up having more programming work soon. I'm a little worried about how I will balance it with the 9 to 5 sort of arrangement. Hopefully, I'll at least be able to have a schedule that's more like 9 to 5 instead of the one I have now. It's not too conducive to seeing people regularly.
Random Thoughts
Ed Fast knew his first wife for 72 hours before divorcing her.
Ed Fast was allowed to run once when he was in high school. The town is now the Window Repair Capital of the World.
Ed Fast doesn't race cars. Cars race Ed Fast.
By the way, Radical Self Reliance is an oxymoron and RSR is a palindrome.
I think that action movies with romance plots are very cynical. The guy always gets the girl at the end, but is that just another way of saying, "The only way you could have gotten this girl is by saving the fucking world." Maybe I'm the only one who thinks that way.
I'm making little foot washing stations for the Purple Taco. I am inept at crafts. Does anyone have any wire hangers I could canabalize?
