Okay, so I know I am super behind the times and probably everyone and their grandmother has seen this, but you will look at it again and you will like it.

WHAT. This is actual canon, right? I blinked for a really extended time each time I watched 2x22 (maybe a neurological condition or something, idk) and missed it, right? But LotS canonically ( Read more... )

I think I blinked for a really extended time too.

It's weird, because I actually think the fact that Bo is functionally immortal and Lauren (and, actually, also Kenzi) is human so, you know, not could be a really interesting thing to explore with their relationship. I could have just lived without Dyson's "Meh, I'll just wait for Lauren to die and then it'll be my turn, no need to actually talk to Bo about any of this." thing. You won me over, Dyson, it took a super long time, but you won me over, don't turn into creepy guy now!

I let femslash fandom lead me by the nose into OUaT, where I turned out to be epically indifferent to the juggernaut f/f pairing. Good times, man.

I was not such a fan at first either, but he can be pretty delightful at times, and I am especially enjoying his interactions with Tamsin this season - don't ruin it now, dude. But yeah, I don't know, it just seems like really lazy, formulaic writing to take the actual, interesting conflict between these three characters and reduce to a will-they-won't-they thing and then stretch it out over three seasons. It was pretty much inevitable after the Norn, but I think I might actually have preferred the ~I AM EMPTY INSIDE~ angst. At least that had Chiara. I was fond of her.

You know, although I know there is one, I just realized that I have absolutely no idea what the juggernaut pairing is. Possibly involving someone named Regina? And maybe someone named Emma...? And the former may be evil-in-remission? Fandom osmosis has failed me.

Yeah, Emma/Regina, also known as Swan Queen. Why, fandom, why?

It's weird, because I really like both characters (Regina is the one in my icon) and I can see why they are the juggernaut ship; they share a lot of loaded looks as well as a son (Emma's biological son, Regina's by adoption) but despite the femslash coming ready packaged I just can't get into it. I don't know, I've never really been into enemy shipping, but a lot of the fic turns them into a Henry has two mommies romcon, which, no. And there's a sizeable subsection of the fandom *cough*tumblr*cough* that's determined to woobiefy Regina into a character I don't recognise.

And, sorry, I've just realised I've spent an entire comment blethering on about a fandom you don't know, oops.

Hah, I think sometimes in fandom we can forget that it's possible to like a character and acknowledge that they've had terrible lives and simultaneously acknowledge that they've done shitty, unjustifiable things and are also kind of assholes. I'M LOOKING AT YOU, MORGANA FANDOM. RIGHT AT YOU. Although I think that might in part be defensive overreaction to the OTT hatred that she gets? I still follow some Morgana-centric tumblrs, is what I'm saying, and it's infuriating lulz. I think for every 3 fics that I could wish into existence in which Morgana magically survives the finale and Gwen and Morgana sloooowly (and possibly at great distance) reconcile, there would also be one fic in which Morgana has a ~change of heart, and Gwen never forgives her, ever (which I'm not convinced would be totally OOC) and one where she just remains an unrepentant dickhead until the end of her days. Although it would appear I am doomed to disappointment on all counts. So basically, in return, I've blathered about a fandom that you're no longer in ( ... )
