once I saw a dog
laying in the dirt
motionless,
lazily watching
as if waiting for
something to
suddenly appear

is this not what
most men are:
dogs in dirt
content to watch
the world go by?

although your question seems rhetoric... i feel it is mostly fear that keeps men lying in the dirt, content to watch the world go by.

fear of taking risks, fear of hurt, fear of becoming lost.
