http://mrkingofhell.livejournal.com Appearance: Crowley’s ‘meatsuit’ he possesses has the appearance of a stout man of average height in his forties. He has short, dark hair with a receding hair line and is well shaven.
He is always seen wearing a black suit and occasionally wears a black wool overcoat.
Personality: Crowley is first and foremost, a Demon. But not a typical run of the mill one. He has class and there’s some kind of refined quality to him that’s not found in most Demons. He has taste, being keen on fine scotch and having a like for material wealth (and even had his own tailor at one point.) - Something he is often made fun of by other Demons.
But still, he’s selfish, cunning, egotistical and knows a thing or two about torture. Being a Crossroads Demon has given him particular excellent skills in bargaining - he knows what people want and can see their weakness, using them to his advantage.
He’s also rather intelligent for a demon, having knowledge in various mystical and supernatural artefacts and spells. He’s also an excellent liar. Though most from his own world know that Demons tend to lie, he’s very good at lying and making others believe it - even Hunters.
He’s a bit of a smarmy git at times, he likes to be in control and when he is, there’s almost a glee in his step. He always likes to gloat about it, a lot.
He’s rarely one to lose his cool and nearly always seems to have control in situations and on the occasions he does lose control and things don’t go his way, he can react calmly and get his arse out of there.
History: Crowley was once a human, born in 1661 in Scotland. He went by the name of Fergus McLeod and was a tailor, having a son called Gavin who he never got on with - and to a point, hated. At some point in his life, Crowley made a deal with a Crossroads Demon - asking for ‘an extra three inches below the belt’, and died ten years after, his soul being sent to Hell.
Remaining in Hell for some time, he soon became Lilith’s right hand man (and supposed lover) and King of the Crossroads demons. He wasn’t a supporter of Lucifer, understanding the fallen Angel hated Demons as much as he did Humanity. But he hid it well.
He stayed in Hell for a few hundred years until two meddling Winchesters began to kick-start the apocalypse by breaking the seals. Knowing what would happen to the demons should Lucifer be released from his cage - he broke out of Hell. Possessing a literary agent from New York, he took residence in a mansion with the Colt (all thanks to a one Bela Talbot) and waited until the Winchesters found him. And they did. Giving them the Colt and Lucifer’s location, he believed it was their one good chance of killing Lucifer, explaining that once Lucifer was done with Humanity - he would wipe out the demons he’d created too.
However, this failed and Crowley was forced to go into hiding from other demons - them now being aware of Crowley’s lack of allegiance to Lucifer. Trying to put Lucifer back in his cage, he helped the Winchesters locate Pestilence where they managed to defeat him. With only the last Horseman, Death, to locate - Crowley made a deal with Bobby Singer, his soul in exchange for information on Death’s location.
In reality, Crowley intended to use Bobby’s soul for insurance until Lucifer was re-caged, should the Winchester’s turn on him. Helping Dean locate Death in Chicago and Death’s Scythe - the one instrument apparently known to kill Death - he quickly left again leaving Dean to face Death alone.
Crowley soon went into hiding once more until the Winchesters managed to put Lucifer back in his cage. Bobby summoned Crowley to return his soul, but he didn't comply - threatening Bobby with a Hellhound and telling him he could choose between having his ten years with or without his legs. It wasn’t until the next time that he summoned the King of Hell did Crowley cancel his contract - as Bobby had found his bones thanks to the ghost of Crowley’s son and had threatened to burn them, thus exorcising Crowley, unless he returned his soul.
After Lucifer’s demise, Crowley returned to Hell and took up position as the new King of Hell. He reformed Hell, changing the forms of torture from the old ways to endless lines of queuing. However, the Demons frustrated him and had little respect for him. So, he decided to look for Purgatory to plunder the souls from there and gain more power. He approached Castiel, who faced fighting Raphael - who in turn, was still intent on restarting the apocalypse. Persuading him to join forces, he offered half the souls in Purgatory and even gave some fifty-thousand souls from Hell to give Castiel the power to start civil war in Heaven.
Locating the Alpha-monsters, Crowley and Castiel worked together on trying to find Purgatory. Their deal was kept a secret for a while, with Castiel having to continually assure the Winchesters that he was on their side. He even went so far as helping Crowley fake his own death so he could continue their 'work'. It wasn’t until the Winchesters come across Eve, Mother of All, did they realise Crowley was still alive. Eve revealed that Crowley had been ‘torturing her children’ in order to find Purgatory.
This revelation began a race against time to find Purgatory, with the Winchesters close to trying to find Crowley. He demanded that Castiel kill the brothers, but he refused - his loyalties still lying with them.
Finally, they interrogated a Purgatory native, Eleanor Visyak, and gained the spell to open the door to Purgatory. Almost ready to perform the ritual, Castiel informed Crowley that the deal had changed, wanting all of the souls for himself. Instead, Crowley fled and took sides with Raphael, agreeing to let the Archangel have the souls in Purgatory in exchange for his safety. However, the ritual didn't work - Castiel had switched the blood.
It was only when Castiel returned, having engulfed the souls of Purgatory did Crowley flee - hoping to return to Hell - but ending up in Chicago.
Writing Sample: As long as there’s Humans around, there will always be business. He’s not particularly one for doing many deals these days, but sometimes there are some offers that are just too good to pass up. He knows that all the souls the other Crossroads Demons get will all be his in the end. But sometimes he just has to be in there like a shot, because it’s fun.
It’s also fun to mess around with the blokes, because they always expect some hot young thing to do the deal. And to their horror, they find themselves face to face with him instead. They always make such a big deal with kissing blokes. Crowley knows better. He can see inside them, most of them are in the closet anyway.
Sealing the deal with a kiss, the man stands, stunned. Crowley can’t help but hide his glee. Relishing in it for a few moments, he cocks his head to the side and shrugs.
“Pleasure doing business,” he says with a smirk, “Kisses,”
And with that, he’s gone.
