No idea why Newcastle have decided to dispense with Chris Houghton. He got us back up, and he's doing a decent job of keeping us there. I'm sure there was any hope of doing more this year.

And his signings to date have suggested a real eye for talent. This has got to be Mike Ashley's most brainless decision yet.

Hughton back... I'm increasingly sure Shearer isn't the man. Not with Ashley there.

O'Neill is surely out of our league, and I don't buy today's rumours of Jol either. (and for that matter I'm not sure I'd want him).

I predict disaster.

Pardew or Curbishley may be more in the budget I guess. At least Curbs should be able to prevent relegation...

Alternatively perhaps they'll give Beardsley a crack at it for the rest of the season, as they're already paying his wages...

I'm not sure either Pardew or Curbishley would represent a step forward. Beardsley probably a step back.

Most worrying is Hughton making comments about who picks the team just before leaving. Maybe Ashley fancies doing the job himself...
