So I've been meaning to say this for a while...

But I haven't really gotten around to it. I know, it's a bit of a taboo viewpoint, but...

Fuck the troops. They signed up to kill and they signed up to die. Don't give me any of that patriotism bullshit, because standing up for the concept of your country or whatever the fuck is not a fucking excuse to take another human life. Sure, I'd like to see ( Read more... )

i mean, i am not patriotic in any way, but looking at it from someone elses viewpoint of being patriotic it's kind of harsh to say that their decision was wrong for going and fighting for their country that they support.

i definitely don't support this war in any way, but i can't help but want to support the troops that are over there because they totally got mislead.

I've have friends over there, so it's complicated issue for me, but over-all, fundamentally, I agree with you 100%.

No, no, no... not fuck the troops, fuck the military-leaders in our government---for giving more money to recruiters and misleading and encouraging impressionable youth to give up their lives for a cause they may or may not support. Fuck them.

Oh, absolutely. Fuck them too, and probably harder. Fuck the culture we've created where signing up for something like that is considered a reasonable career move. But culture is no excuse for signing up to kill. Everybody has to have some personal responsibility.

I agree COMPLETELY, but at the same time, I have no idea to what extent the government and the military can lie to rectruit, so I assume that since I don't know, there's a lot of dirty business and that takes a little bit of the responsibility off of these young, ignorant patriots.
But yea, everyone has to take responsibility for their decisions. The problem is they can't, if they're dead.

The military can and does lie their asses off to potential recruits. It's been documented. But that doesn't change the fact that at the base of it, recruits are signing up to kill and be killed. That's not something you can lie about. That's what the military is.

Fuck the government, not the troops. They're not the ones making the decisions out there. I don't support the war they are fighting one bit. But, you what are you going to do? A lot of the kids out there were brought in on false hope and patriotism, anyway. This is a sticky subject. I should stop talking, I always say the wrong thing....fuck the government & military leaders charge. in the ass. Twice.

Have you read Jarhead? It's really good.

They're not making decisions there, but they did make the decision to sign up. All I'm saying is that once it is somebody's job to kill other people, I find it pretty fucking hard to give a shit about them.

I have not read it, but I did see the movie, if that counts for anything.
