Rush yesterday set me off. It's a damned shame the most listened to radio talk show host in the USA pulls punches when he absolutely does not need to. Thus begins my rant:

Just a small comment:

I don't hate Bush because he's a Republican. Granted, I don't like Republicans in general, but that's not why I don't like Bush.

I don't like Bush because, to me, he comes off as smug, arrogant, and clueless [though he has said he prefers not to read newspapers or know about current events, so I can't really fault him for that last one].

By the way, in regards to the post you made in ... I defended your right to say what you wanted to say, though I didn't agree with it. Far be it from me to let people tell you you're not allowed to have an opinion. Free speech means defending the right of someone to say something that makes your blood boil. Not to mention not allowing your friends to be personally insulted, which you were in that post [when that girl called you fat, more specifically]. It was bullshit, and I told them so.

Then they attacked ME. It got very, very, VERY personal and I asked the mod just to delete the whole thing because it really hurt me (they were making comments about my marriage in other journals, and then calling me juvenile and saying how they didn't think I even managed to graduate high school because I'm so stupid, etc)... I didn't mean to hurt you by getting that post deleted, but I do want you to know that I defended you til it literally hurt.

I certainly appreciate what you did in buffalo_dorks, and I am quite grateful.

However, please bear in mind this is the reason why I thought it best if we did not discuss politics. Politically, we are on different ends of the spectrum and as you saw (even though you are not a conservative) things like that can get real ugly. REAL ugly.

I think I am going to have to say something about this in that community. What they did was completely out of line and it will not go unchallenged.

But as for you, my dear, I love you. Thanks. And forget about those turds.

Honestly, like I said, I don't care WHAT you believe, as long as you're not out there yelling OMG FAGS SHOULD DIE. Or something like that.

You weren't.

You are allowed to believe whatever it is that you wish to believe. If you want to believe the moon is made of cheese, you're well within your rights. That's part of America, and it's why we have a democracy. They compared you to Hitler, but you know what? Hitler also refused to let anyone dissent. So they're being more like Hitler than you are, quite frankly.

It really doesn't bother me that they attacked my intelligence or what have you. I got a bit insulted when they attacked my marriage, though it was in another journal. It's things like that and the "fat" comment that set me off. There's no reason to bring that crap into an argument. It's immature.
