I was going to write a glowing review of this film; without question the best I have seen this year, even with eight months left.

But something happened last night that made my heart sink: The local news said the film opened at number 2 at the box office, picking up a paltry $12 million, behind the new Robin "I Needed The Money" Williams flick RV. ( Read more... )

They want to forget September 11th, and pretend it never happened. But me..I could never forget. It seriously changed the way I feel about life....

A quick trip to Rotten Tomatoes reveals why. RV played in over twice as many theaters yet barely bet United 93. Furthermore RV has a 24% rating while United 93 got a 91%*. So RV bombed basically and it won't beat 93 this weekend now that everyone knows it sucks. How people didn't get that from it's preview, I'll never know.

* - Note that the asshole who gave it a rotten rating on the main page also gave a 4 of 4 rating to Fahrenheit 9/11.

Yes, at FreeRepublic.com someone was telling me about that. Over less than half of the theaters that got RV.

Trouble is, M:I 3 (which I am seeing later, BTW) is just going to blow the competition out of the water. So I don't expect United93 to do much better than its opening weekend, limited release or not.

I have a theory that there's an asshole farm somewhere... and stupid movies *cough RV cough SILENT HILL* are thought up by those who come from said farm. And don't get me started about MI III Tom Cruise is a stupid lunatic who should be locked away for a very very long time. b

That being said...
considering the fact that I get to go to the movies on average about once a year I probably won't see it. Looked good though. (yes I know I can rent it.. however whenever i rent things, they end up sitting on my top of my tv for 2 weeks until blockbuster, or Family Video starts leaving us evil phone messages... I just don't have time unless I buy the darn thing, and i Just cannot afford to buy dvds for every good movie that comes out...)

I have DSL now by the way... I'll be posting more! WHOO!! HOO!!!
