So, I watched the Matrix Reloaded again. And it made me think. Now, I love Rachel more than anything else in this world. She is the most important thing in my world, and I can say without exaagerating that her prescence in my life is the only thing that kept me from taking the cowards way out.
Despite this, I don't think I could justify sacrificing the rest of humanity for the chance to MAYBE save her life. Especially when saving her life means that while she and I may survive, we will be without a source of food, water, or power, what witht the imminent destruction of Zion. Now, I'm sure that in the third movie Neo will manage to save everyone, but at the time he couldn't possibly be sure that he would be able too. He foolishly threw away the entire human race for a woman that's going to die anyways. If not immediately, than in the coming weeks.
Of course, I'd have no problem sacrificing, say, 75% of humanity to save Rachel's life. I'm not THAT fond of the bastards.
