I had that Sony Trinitron, a 19" from 1983 till 2001. It was entirely possible for what was shown in advertisement in the video above to raise your kids with a beautifully done television that would last longer than their 1st puppy would live.
I had done a major repair once in I believe 1996 at 13 years old and at that time upgraded one of the circuits with improved parts. 1983 to 1996 and you could not only get parts but get upgraded parts for a television. Sony was almost dead in 1996 and I knew they would not be available much longer.
I mourn the lost of that era. Such craftsmanship, human craftsmanship is long lost to us.
