Connecticut same sex marriage

Can anyone explain the law that passed in Connecticut today? Connecticut already had legal same sex marriage. It's kinda cool that it passed in the House 100-44 and in the Senate 28-7, and that Gov. Rell signed it, even after expressing her opposition to same sex marriage (making her the first Governor to sign a same sex marriage bill into law), ( Read more... )

I wonder if this moves it from being case law to statute law, and thus makes it harder for a later court to overrule?

I suppose that's technically true, in that even if the composition of the CT Supreme Court changed such that it overruled the previous decision, they would presumably only be ruling that marriage equality is not required. At that point, the statute would still control. However, I think that's a fairly unlikely scenario in the case of CT ( ... )
