In the aftermath of my grandfather's passing, our house has inherited lots of things and odds and ends. Among them I found something really special: a poem my grandfather wrote to my grandmother who passed away 16 years ago. Wow, I'm impressed. Two long responses, you surely outdid yourself. Anyway, I don't see an answer to my life, because it takes an entire lifetime to receive one. What's more important is trying to find the question, in a very Hitchhikers' Guide kind of way. Now what I don't know is if I feel a real spiritual thought behind that statement, or if I'm talking out of my ass. Usually I realize whether what I'm saying is authentically felt, but I really don't know in this case ( ... )

Well, it seems we are more similar than I had even imagined. Yes, your assessment is correct. I am aware of authenticity (and my school is indeed infected with the opposite), and it's a good thing. The problem we both share is our motivation. I say I want to become an author, and yet with all the free time I have, rarely do I sit down at the computer to write, choosing instead to play video games or jerk off. I have the additional handicap of fear -- I am not at all confident with my ability to make a nomadic/poor/carefree lifestyle work, and I oftentimes doubt I will ever break out of the career path I have started ( ... )
