Quidditch, Babysitters, and Beer

Jul 13, 2006 03:18

We're third right now, which is pretty damn good if I don't say so myself. We're still one game behind, and we're lacking the Wasps by 180, and Pride by 560. Pride's still quite ahead, but they haven't gone against us, yet. We go against the Holyhead Harpies this next week -- who will be out there in blue and gold?

Oliver Wood? Is that you? I think I recognize the handwriting. With how many plays and notes you used to bury the team with, I should recognize it.

If it is, how are you, mate? I heard you were playing again. Good on you.

Harry, good to talk to you, mate. It has been awhile, hasn't it? Yes, I'm back to Quiddich, finally. I wasn't sure what I would do with myself when the season cut out back when the war began. What have you been up to? Besides trying to undermine all the hard work the ministry has been up to... Gone to see any matches lately? Are you still playing around yourself? You had talent, as I said so myself. And we got the cup! ...One of the happiest days of my life.....

It has been a while. But you know how it goes...busy.

I'm not up to too much, mate. Moved to Ireland. You should come by the house sometime.

I haven't seen any matches lately...I kind of avoid the crowds these days. But, I do follow the season, You lot are doing well! Third place so far? Impressive. And no, I haven't played in years. Still flying, but haven't had much of a chance for playing, not that I don't miss it.

It was a good day. I miss those too.

I'd love to come and visit Ireland, if I can get a babysitter for my daughter. I don't think you ever met my wife Ing or my daughter Wini, did you? Maybe when I get a chance to visit we can take a fly. If there's a few others, we can play a the damndest hard game of your life a friendly bit of Quiddich.

Third place right now. But we're going to start working harder. The manager's a good guy, he just needs to push the rest. It's starting to look a little bit too easy, but I'm not about to let us get anything but the victory! As soon as I get a babysitter it'll all be different. I'll be out there from dawn to dusk. You know of a good sitter?

It just so happens that our schedule is clear this weekend and we love kids. Note to self: leave the vanishing solution at home. As for using your lovely daughter as a test subject, you should know that we only employ test subjects who are of legal age.

I think a full-body bubble charm might be appropriate in this case Glad to hear it! She'll probably be glad to see you though she hasn't given a real smile in ages is having a bit of difficulty showing her emotion lately. You know, with all of the stress.

Out of curiosity, where're the Cannons standing? Haven't been able to get my hands on a paper.
As for the blue and gold, not I.
I prefer the harsh furnace-reminiscent colours of red and orange. Thank you.

Unfortunately for you, sir, the Cannons are in 8th place. We play them on the 24th. Your handwriting is familiar -- do I know you? This is a Mr. O.W. Perhaps if you are a friend, I might consider giving you a free ticket to that game, as I would enjoy having you seated on the Puddlemere side to watch the Cannon’s lose by a long shot.

Haha- the name's Charlie, O.W. (Those intials are very familiar to me, by the way.)

Ah well. I didn't really expect them to be doing any better. I still stand behind them, as I am loyal and all that, if slightly embittered by their play.

And I'd enjoy watching them play-- and... probably lose. But, you never know, O.W., they might just surprise you!

I am not going to be surprised, and you will be embittered. But, at least for you it is not a career, Delusional C.

Sorry, it will always be purple and gold for me.

Still, Puddlemere v. Pride will be an excellent match!

Greetings, professor. This is your former student, O. Wood here. I'm a little dissapointed in your lack of proper respect for the best team of the League, but I will ascribe it to jumping on the bandwagon like the rest of the people suddenly sporting purple and gold as though it were their normal colors your current faith in their success. The Puddlemere v. Pride match will be occuring in late August, and perhaps than we will see who the victor is!

Oliver! I should have realized it was you- silly me. How have you been? I was so pleased when Quidditch resumed - and now having Pride in 1st! (You must forgive my exuberance, a great-uncle on my father's side played for Pride of Portree sometime back in the 1700's, so in my family, you don't cheer for anyone else. I suppose, though, I could hope for Puddlemere to come in second?)

Regardless, it is lovely to hear from you. Please keep in touch!

If you're hoping the Harpies are going to help you out, with being behind the Wasps and all, then you thought wrong. I wish I could be there, just not on the 'blue & gold' side. Wonder if you'd celebrate fourth just as well as you celebrated third.

Tonks, it's me, Wood. Haven't seen you since... was it January, February? How's Kingsley doing? The Leaky wasn't the same without you, though I'm trying to keep clear of it for the most part, now. I finally got Wini back at the beginning of April. You were right, I shouldn't have let her stay with my parents so long.

We'll have to get together some time. I'll probably have to bring Wini along -- you never met her, did you -- and so it'll have to be butterbeer for the most part if we make it the Leaky.

Wood

PS I'm going to assume your comments about the Wasps is just a drunken slur, and therefore keep you in my good graces.

Where the Bloody Hell have you been?! You just up and...Well.. Ok I can't say much, I up and stopped going to the Leaky too... but damnit Oliver! Don't you know how to use Owls? And the journal! You've had one this entire time and you are finally writing in it?! Did you get your hands cut off or something?! Ok ok... I'm taking deep breaths ( ... )

Didn't really have much time for owls before. Didn't really have time for anything except the bottle at the Leaky.

What do you mean, acting so surprised that I'm on Puddlemere. Didn't you know I was on there for a over a year before the league was halted? I was only working at the ministry until I could get back into Quidditch -- though Ing told me to get out the job and into the sun. She knew I hated it. Ahhh, but you should know all of that, shouldn't you?

It'd be great if you could meet Wini. She's a terrific kid though she hardly says a word anymore. If we go with the Butterbeer, we can meet anytime at the Leaky. You know I love it there ( ... )
